Terminal and non-terminal states of a :ref:`Task <doxid-class_e_e_1_1_task>`.

Abandoned is an infrastructure-contract failure: the producer was destroyed without resolving. It is not a domain error and must not be used as control flow. Domain outcomes such as cancellation or I/O errors belong in the value type (for example Result<T, E>).
